I recall hearing that hats went out of style (for men) because JFK didn't tend to wear them.

My father never wore a hat, like many men his age did, and my grandfather always did - until he got old and needed a hat for sun protection. I guess he followed JFK's style!

My dad worked in the offices of a a big corporation for 44 years and wore either one of several fedoras every day that he went to work. He even owned a homburg which he wore occasionally. My career began in the late 1950's and I too wore a hat to work until about 1965. Some of my prize possessions now include three of my dad's old hats.
