Still one of my all-time favorite movies. I also saw the stage production starring Florence Henderson as Maria at the Shubert Theatre in Chicago when I was about 8, I think. It was my first live performance and I was enthralled.

I second Chuck's sentiment...RIP Charmain Carr (she was younger than me!!!)...I saw her death mentioned in the 'Who's Alive & Who's Dead' blog last week...it didn't mention the sound of Music, but I recognized the name right away...that movie was my mom & dad's favorite...when we visited Salzburg (they came to visit me in Germany in both 1972 & '73) going to the cathedral (Dom) in that city was one of dad's highlights. She was part of Oprah's special 50th Anniversary show along with the other surviving members of the cast...

I believe my Mom took me out to Syossett, LI,NY theater to see it. She told me I had better not fall asleep,as the ticket was 'expensive'.So,there was 8 yr old me,waking my Mother up during the wedding scene!

I saw the movie version of "The Sound Of Music" with
my family at The Valentine Movie Theater in The Bronx,
NYC back in 1965.Wink

It ran for over a year at a theater in Kansas City, the Midland, I believe.

St. Louis theatre 1965 saw with my grandmother---many nuns at intermission--same year the St. Louis Arch was being built.
